A big night for Hideki Matsui delivered the 27th World Series title to the most storied franchise in baseball. The New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7 to 3 to win the series in six games. Matsui drove in six of the team's seven runs last night.
He gave the Yankees the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a two-run homer. It was his second home run off Pedro Martinez in the series. Matsui drove in four more runs with a bases-loaded single in the 3rd and a double in the 5th to lead the Yankees to a 7 to 3 win. Matsui was named the World Series MVP.
